Silvia Choo
Silvia started learning the violin when she was 8 years old as part of her CCA in primary school. She was appointed as the concert mistress in the string ensemble and decided to take up master class under the guidance of Michael Tong in 2004. She had completed her ABRSM Grade 5 in Music Theory in 2006 and ABRSM Grade 8 in Violin 2009.
As a mallet player in symphonic band during her secondary school days, she was keen to know more about the instruments that are similar to the bars. She then picked up piano at the age of 17 and received her ABRSM Grade 3 in Piano the following year. Later on, she joined the SP String Ensemble as the concert mistress and had been exposed to performing solo pieces as well as concertos and duets on stage. In 2014, she is under the tutelage of Mr Yang Shili in preparation for her diploma examination. She began to give back to the community by teaching violin both privately and in Sonata School of Music and Arts, and became a freelance violinist for many wedding gigs and concerts, namely the Orchestra of the Music Makers and The Pinholes.
